Clean green waste can be composted or turned into mulch. As soon as trash, plastics, or construction debris go into the container, the entire load has to be handled as mixed waste, which changes both the facility it goes to and how the job is processed.

It depends on volume and density. Leaves, pine straw, and light brush take up space without much weight, so a larger container usually makes sense.
